So Aunt Stacy suggested that I keep a running list of all the places I have breastfed Desi, considering that today we conquered our first in-restaurant meltdown! I retreated to the ladies room, which was amazingly empty considering it was the middle of the afternoon, on a weekday, in a Hell's Kitchen Indian restaurant, on a block with 47 different other eateries, all featuring my-deal's-better-than-your-deal lunch specials. As I ripped off her sneakers (that she LOVES when I put on...sike) I seriously considered texting Stacy to scrap the whole idea and book it the hell out of there. However, "I will make this work" popped into my head, I took a deep breath and decided to not get defeated! So I placed her half in the Baby Bjorn (one of the BEST inventions EVER!) and went into the stall....hung up all my personal belongings and began to feed my lil screaming samosa. VICTORY IS MINE! She calmed down eventually and I was able to return to my delicious meal, with my Lucy Liu. I must admit that although I conquered my fears of embarassment at the "oh god, screaming baby, great idea lady!" looks from the 2 other patrons of the establishment, I still have some getting used to that I am now "THAT" lady, who needs to eat with kid in the sack, because otherwise all hell breaks loose....but thats part of the process I think.
Oh, and I also had a "Holy crap I am a mom" moment when, after a few moments of complete deliberation, weighing all the options, and looking at what it would entail...I decided NOT to pee, as it would just be too much trouble.
And at 4:44pm, I laid on my belly for the first time in probably 7 months. As Auntie Allie, Aunt Stacy, and I laid watching, nay, I say basking in the afternoon sunlight as it warmed a lil cupcake napping peacefully on her new Uncle Nate. Delicious way to spend an afternoon!
